Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports that members of the Crash Investigation Unit are still investigating a crash that occurred in the Town of Newstead Tuesday around 5:15 p.m.

Two vehicles collided at the intersection of Route 5 and Barnum Road, forcing the closure of Route 5 and the surrounding streets for several hours.  The occupants of one of the vehicles, an adult male driver, an adult female passenger and a juvenile, were transported to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The driver of the second vehicle, Charles Reno, 32, of Basom, New York, was taken to Millard Fillmore Suburban where he later died from his injuries.

The Crash Investigation Unit is still looking into the incident.
