Good Samaritans Tended to Elderly Couple Until First Responders Arrived

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports Deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash on December 29, at 5:19 P.M. along Clinton Street in the Town of Elma.

Deputies responded to the crash scene (between Winspear and Handy roads) where they observed one vehicle on its roof and multiple individuals tending to the occupants until first aid arrived.

The female passenger was extricated and transported to Erie County Medical Center with upper body and head injuries where she remains in critical but stable condition.  The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators from the Sheriff’s Crash Investigation Unit concluded that the vehicle was unable to negotiate a curve, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway, strike a culvert then a light/utility pole and come to rest on its roof.

The victim’s names are being withheld until the family has been notified.
