Initial Reports of a Pickup Truck Striking a Bicyclist

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports members of the Crash Investigation Unit remain at the scene of an injury accident on Clinton Street, near Townline Road, in the Town of Elma.

Sheriff’s Deputies initially responded to the scene at 10:10 A.M and shortly after arrival, a call for Mercy Flight was placed by the responding volunteer fire company.  Then, at 10:17, the Crash Investigation Unit was dispatched to the accident.

First reports indicate a pickup truck struck at least one bicyclist and that person was being treated for arm, torso, head and neck injuries.  The victim was airlifted to Erie County Medical Center for treatment, and the Sheriff’s Office does not have an updated medical status of the individual.

The Sheriff’s Office is withholding the identification of all parties involved in the incident as the investigation continues.
