Debit Card Thief Arrested After Traffic Stop

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports Justin Prouty, 20, of Ashford, was arrested and charged with Grand Larceny after he was stopped by Deputies in Springville on December 23 for unauthorized use of a vehicle.

During processing, Detectives questioned the suspect about a stolen debit card from an acquaintance of Prouty’s.  The Detectives were able to ascertain the location of the stolen debit card and subsequently charged the subject with a felony count of Grand Larceny.

In addition to the felony charge, Prouty was charged with a misdemeanor count of Unauthorized Use of Vehicle without Owner’s Consent.  The defendant is currently at the Erie County Holding Center on $5000.00 bail and has a future court date.
