Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard announces the arrest of a suspect in the attempted burglary of the Spring Creek Pharmacy in the Village of Springville on February 28.

That Sunday morning, Deputies responded to a broken glass alarm at the pharmacy.  Upon arrival, Deputies observed a broken window and damage to a rear access door.  Witnesses provided Deputies with a description of the suspect and the direction of his escape.  Deputy Ballantyne and his partner, K9 Hayco, began tracking the suspect’s route and during the search, the K9 unit discovered a pile of clothing identified as the suspect’s; however, after the discovery of the clothing, the scent was lost and the track was ended.

Deputies and Detectives collected video surveillance recordings of the incident and began analyzing the images for additional evidence and a collaborative effort between road patrol Deputies and Detectives resulted in the identification of the suspect.

On March 31, Detectives located the suspect at a residence in Delavan, New York and discussed the February 28 incident.  The discussion was continued at the Springville Substation where Travis Neu, 26 of Delavan, provided a voluntary statement about his involvement in the attempted burglary at Spring Creek Pharmacy and about a separate incident at Fiddlers Green in July 2015.

Subsequent to the confession, Neu was arrested and charged with felony attempted burglary and a felony count of criminal mischief for the February 2016 incident and petit larceny for the July 2015 incident.  The defendant was released on appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in Village of Springville Justice Court on April 15.
