Driver Faces Weapons Charges As Well 

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports Deputy Francis stopped a vehicle on South Cascade Drive in the Village of Springville at 3:16 A.M. on November 28 for vehicle and traffic violations. 

During the Deputy’s investigation, he discovered Daniel Mason, 57 of Freedom, possessed a quantity of heroin, a quantity of hypodermic needles, and a throwing star.  The Deputy also discovered a quantity of heroin and a hypodermic needle on the passenger, Katy Lang. 

Mason is charged with misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of a hypodermic instrument, and criminal possession of a weapon.  He was also cited for possession of marijuana and two separate vehicle and traffic violations.  Lang, 30 of Freedom, is charged with misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument. 

Both defendants are held at the Erie County Holding Center, and their arraignment is scheduled for November 28 in Springville Village Court.
