Narcotics Unit Investigation Spanned Several Months

 

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports that the Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit arrested two individuals on January 19, one of whom is known to sell drugs. 

 

At approximately 1:45 P.M., members of the Narcotics Unit approached a vehicle driven by Marquis Shaw in a parking lot along William Street in the City of Buffalo.  The subject is known to have a suspended license and the unit removed Shaw and a passenger from the vehicle.  The subsequent search of the vehicle discovered more than four ounces of fentanyl, ¼ ounce of crack cocaine, a secreted, loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun and various drug paraphernalia. 

 

Shaw, 22 of Buffalo, was arrested and charged with an A-1 felony for criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony count of possession with intent to sell, a felony count of possession of a narcotic, and criminal possession of a weapon.   The defendant is also charged with a misdemeanor count of aggravated unlicensed operation and criminal use of drug paraphernalia. 

 

The passenger, Elliot Dowell, 23, of Buffalo was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.  Dowell was released on an appearance ticket.

 

Shaw is remanded to the custody of the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $200,000.00 bail.
