Suspect Fiegl

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports his office arrested a Deputy assigned to the Erie County Holding Center Monday afternoon following an investigation that revealed he was smuggling Suboxone for inmates.

Executing a search warrant signed by New York State Supreme Court Justice Timothy Drury for Adam Fiegl’s property, members of the Narcotics Unit discovered a quantity of Suboxone and $200.00 in cash.

Units from the Jail Management Division and the Narcotics Unit collaborated on the investigation and learned Fiegl, 32 of Orchard Park, was accepting bribes from individuals to smuggle contraband into the holding center.

Fiegl was arrested and charged with introducing contraband into a prison, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and receiving a bribe – all Class D Felonies.  The defendant is held at the Niagara County Jail pending his arraignment in Buffalo City Court.

Fiegl, hired in 2013, is suspended without pay pending criminal and internal proceedings.
