Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a Sardinia resident after Deputy Flowers initiated a traffic stop on North Street in the Village of Springville yesterday morning.

Deputy Flowers was patrolling in Springville when observed a vehicle with no front license plate and a rear license plate that was obviously an imitation New York license plate.  Upon initiating the traffic stop, he began his investigation and determined the operator, Amanda Schweickert, 28, was operating the vehicle with a suspended registration and without insurance.

Deputy Flowers arrested the driver and charged her with a felony count of possessing a forged instrument, a misdemeanor count of operating a vehicle with a suspend registration and three vehicle and traffic infractions.  Schweickert is housed at the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $400.00 bail and has a pending court appearance at the Springville Village Court.

The fake license plate was constructed of cardboard and painted to replicate a New York plate.  The homemade plate was seized and place into evidence.
