Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports two separate impaired driving related crashes over the weekend.

 

August 20, 8:30 a.m., City of Buffalo – Deputy Rogers was traveling on Niagara Street near the intersection of Austin Street when a vehicle crossed over the center lines and struck the driver’s side of the sheriff’s patrol vehicle; the vehicle then continued on Niagara Street.  The vehicle was stopped and the operator, John Booker, 43, of Buffalo was found to be impaired by drugs and in possession of three rocks of crack cocaine. The subject was subsequently arrested for DWI-drugs, aggravated unlicensed operation, criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and vehicle and traffic infractions. The Deputy sustained minor injuries.

 

August 20, 10:38 p.m., Town of Colden – While on patrol, Deputies Ely and Barbaritz discovered a vehicle partially in a ditch on Boise Road.  Deputy Dunn arrived to assist and while speaking with the driver, he detected the smell of alcohol.  Following his investigation, the Deputy arrested Rebecca Kubanek, 44, of East Aurora for DWI.  The defendant was processed at the Elma Substation and was later released on tickets.
