Closed Martin Luther King Day but Opened on Friday 

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard announces the Erie County Holding Center and the correctional facility will be closed Monday, January, 16 to observe the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.  However, both facilities have added Friday visiting hours; Fridays are usually closed for general visitation. 

“Due to the jails being closed for visiting on Martin Luther King Day,” Sheriff Timothy Howard explains, “I have added Friday visiting hours to allow an additional day for friends and family to visit.” 

Holding Center and Correctional Facility Holiday Schedule:

• Monday, January 16 – Closed

• Friday, January 13, 2017:

Morning Session:

• Visitor sign-up 7:10 A.M. - 11:00 A.M.

• Visiting 7:30 A.M. - 11:30 A.M.

• Closed 11:30 A.M. - 12:15 P.M.

Afternoon Session:

• Visitor sign-up 12:15 pm - 2:00 P.M.

• Visiting 1:00 pm - 2:30 P.M.
