Undercover buys lead Detectives, Narcotics Unit & SWAT Team to suspects


 

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports members of the Sheriff’s Detective Bureau, Narcotics Unit, and SWAT team arrested Anthony Haake and Rebecca Ott yesterday after Deputies made multiple undercover buys of stolen firearms.


The sheriff’s office first responded to reports of a burglary on September 18, in the Town of Colden where firearms, credit cards, and various personal effects were stolen.  It was discovered that the firearms were taken during a morning burglary, and after a week long investigation Haake, 39, and Ott, 37, were arrested Thursday afternoon following a second undercover buy. 

 

Following their arrests, members of the sheriff’s office executed a search warrant at couple’s Eden residence where Detectives and Deputies recovered several stolen firearms from the September 18 burglary and narcotics.

 

Haake was charged with several felonies which including burglary – second degree, grand larceny – third degree, grand larceny of a credit card – fourth degree, grand larceny – fourth degree, and criminal possession of stolen property, firearms – fourth degree.  The defendant was also charged with two counts of criminal possession of stolen property, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and criminal mischief – all misdemeanors.

 

Ott was charged with one felony count of criminal possession of stolen property – firearms, two misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of stolen property, and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

 

Both subjects are being held at the Erie County Holding Center pending their arraignments on September 29.
