Newly Arraigned Inmate Caught Bringing Drugs into Holding Center

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports that Justin Austin, 27 of Buffalo, was arrested by Sheriff’s Deputies after a quantity of cocaine was found during his admission into at the Erie County Holding Center.

Just after 7 p.m., Monday, a Deputy working the intake search area observed and newly arrived inmate acting suspicious and nervous.  The Deputy inquired about possible contraband with negative results.  Deputies were authorized to conduct a more thorough search of the inmate and discovered a quantity of cocaine concealed in the subject’s underwear.  The contraband was surrendered without incident and no additional contraband was discovered.

The defendant was remanded to the holding center on $10,000 bail following his arraignment on robbery charges in the Town of Cheektowaga.  Arnold faces additional criminal charges for the contraband as well as administrative discipline.
