NYSEG Alden Substation Had Copper Wiring Stolen

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports Detectives were called to the New York State Electric and Gas substation Friday for reports of copper wiring cut and removed from a substation.

Approximately $1,500 of copper was stolen from the NYSEG substation located on Walden Avenue in the Town of Alden after subject or subjects cut through a security fence to gain access to the facility.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance images from a security system near the substation and Detectives are requesting anyone with a home or business security system that captures images of the facility to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 716.858.2903.

The Sheriff’s Office renews its calls to residents living near substations or consistently travels by facilities to look for suspicious vehicles and activities and immediately contact their local law enforcement agency.
