Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard announces a peaceful end to a situation in Clarence Sunday night.

Deputies responded to a residence on Old Goodrich Road around 6:40 p.m. Sunday after concerned family members could no longer contact the male subject who had made alarming statements.  Deputies Rozycki and Nati arrived at the residence and spoke with a family member after which the Deputies evaluated the situation and determined it was not safe to approach the house. Subsequently, neighbors were contacted and requested they stay inside their dwellings.  When additional Deputies arrived at the scene, further precautions were taken by closing surrounding streets.

After several attempts to contact the subject via phone, Deputies could communicate with the person and convince him to exit the house bringing the evening to a peaceful resolution.

Due to unknown facts, the sheriff’s office took extra precautions during this situation for the safety of the public and emergency responders.
