School Administrators were quick to Act after Finding Device

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad Unit and Detectives have cleared the incident and the student.

Earlier on Thursday morning, the Sheriff’s Office was investigating allegations that a student was talking about making bombs to other students.  Alden High School administrators checked the student’s locker and discovered a device with a battery and wires.  Following the discovery, the school followed its lockdown procedures, and multiple Sheriff’s units were dispatched to the scene.

Bomb technicians determined the device was benign and explosive detection K9s cleared the school.  Detectives were able to determine the student did not possess bomb-making materials and no criminal charges will be filed.
