Good Corporate Citizen Contacts the Sheriff’s Office

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard announced Deputies arrested London White, 27 of Amherst, today and charged him with a misdemeanor and multiple vehicle and traffic violations following a crash at Salt and County roads Wednesday.

Just after 2:00 P.M. on October 18, the Sheriff’s Crash Investigation Unit responded to a hit and run crash where a white delivery truck and a passenger vehicle collided and the passenger vehicle rolled over with a parent and two minors inside.  The delivery truck fled the scene, and following the crash, the Sheriff’s Office asked for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the truck.  Dozens of calls were received by Sheriff’s dispatchers as well as a call from employees of a local business.

After seeing media reports and observing damage to one of its delivery vehicles, representatives from Value City Furniture contacted the Sheriff’s Office.  The subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of White.  The defendant is charged with a leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, speeding, failure to yield the right of way, and failure to stop at a stop sign.  White, who surrendered to Deputies with his lawyer, was released on appearance tickets for Clarence Town Court.

Sheriff Howard said, “I appreciate the public’s help, and I want to commend Value City Furniture for stepping up and proving to be a good and responsible corporate citizen.”

The Sheriff’s Office does not have an update on the minors’ injuries, but they are expected to make a full recovery.
