Sheriff Thanks Public for the Anonymous Tips

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports Detectives arrested 46-year-old Rebecca Hatala of Dunkirk after receiving numerous tips following December 19, social media posts.

On December 2, Deputies were contacted by an individual who stated their credit card was missing and noticed unauthorized charges on the statement.  Deputies secured surveillance video and turned the case over to Detectives.

Detectives investigated the anonymous tips and later identified the subject.  On December 21, Detectives arrested Hatala and charged her with a felony count of criminal possession of stolen property – credit card, misdemeanor charges of identity theft and petit larceny.

Hatala was processed and released on appearance tickets for Orchard Park Town Court.
