Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports Deputies Cannan, Clark, and Girdler responded to a car break in on Regency Drive in Grand Island on Thursday around 4:15 A.M.

The Deputies detained a 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old male after locating them with items stolen from the complainant’s vehicles.  The teens were both charged with two counts of petit larceny, two counts of criminal possession of stolen property, conspiracy, and unlawful possession of personal ID.  Deputies attempted to release the 16-year-old to the custody of his parents but hey refused and he was taken to the Erie County Holding Center on $200.00 bail.  The 15-year-old was released to his father with appearance tickets.

Then, at 7:08 A.M., Deputies Clark, Ginnane, and Grand Island Officer Franz responded to Tracey Lane for reports of a male entering vehicles.  While checking the area, a subject matching description provided by citizens was spotted running on Laurie Lane.

The suspect was detained, and officers recognized the individual as the 15-year-old arrested earlier and released to his father.  The 15-year-old was found in possession of coins and U.S. Currency.  The defendant is charged with additional counts of petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.  He is also charged with harassment after he made physical contact with one of the vehicle owners.

Due to his age, the Deputies had to release the 15-year-old back into the custody of his father.

The 16-year-old male remains at the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment.
