Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports Deputy Casey responded to a crash scene after the Sheriff’s Office received a call around 4:40 A.M. Wednesday.

Deputy Casey and the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the scene as well as fire and EMS personnel.  Deputies observed the driver was highly intoxicated and Grant Brown, 55, of Burlington, VT. refused to submit to a breath screening.  The Deputies subsequently charged him with DWI, speeding, failure to drive on the right side of the roadway, and driving without a license.

The defendant was transported to Erie County Medical Center for the treatment of serious upper body injuries, and the Sheriff’s Office does not have an update on his medical status.
