Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the ATV and Crash Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances in an ATV accident Monday around 8 p.m. in Grand Island.

Sheriff’s dispatchers received a call from a Ransom Road resident about a 46-year-old female ATV operator who became pinned under a barn door.  When Deputies Rogers and Soluri arrived they observed the victim lying on the ATV with the barn door across her body.  The Deputies lifted the door off the victim and was moved to a waiting ambulance.  Grand Island Fire first aid technicians stabilized the victim for transport to Erie County Medical Center via Mercy Flight.

The Sheriff’s Office does not have an update on the victim’s condition, but the victim was conscious and responding to first responders before she was airlifted to the hospital.

The Crash Investigation and ATV units are continuing their investigation.
