July 2015 Corrections Academy Graduates

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard announces this office will swear-in 21 new Deputies and Corrections Officers today at 1 p.m. at the Erie Community College City Campus.

The recruits attend a 13-week long academy where they receive defensive tactics, jail management training as well as weapons and Oleoresin Capsicum (Pepper Spray) training.

After the recruits’ graduation from the Basic Corrections Academy, the Deputies and Corrections Officers will be assigned to the Erie County Holding Center or the Correctional Facility.  The newly sworn Deputies and Officers will continue field training with experienced officers within the correctional facilities and will receive their final duty upon completion.

This is the second Erie County Sheriff’s Office Basic Corrections Academy graduating class for 2015.
