SHERIFF’S OFFICE GRADUATES 28 FROM CORRECTION TRAINING ACADEMY

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff’s Office announced the graduation of twenty-eight new Deputies and Correction Officers from the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Basic Corrections Academy.

The graduation ceremony was held at Erie Community College’s City Campus auditorium where Sheriff Timothy Howard and Chairman Thomas Beilein, Chairman of the NYS Commission of Corrections, addressed the graduates and their families and presented them with graduation certificates.

The Deputies and Officers will be assigned to the Jail Management Division and will continue their training before their official assignment.

This class is part of an unprecedented level of hiring that came about as a result of the cooperative efforts of the Sheriff’s Office, County Executive and Legislature, and the NYS Commission of Correction.  Since 2012, the Sheriff’s Office has been running corrections academies each year an effort to increase its staffing levels at the Holding Center and Correctional Facility.
