Sheriff Tim Howard Announces Collection figures for Unwanted Drugs

August 29, 2013 - Since the Erie County Sheriff's Office and Health Department installed 11 prescription drug drop off boxes about a month ago around the county, deputies have collected approximately 290 pounds of old and unwanted medications, as well as syringes and I.V. equipment. The discarded items are set to be destroyed. Locations of kiosks can be found on our website at erie.gov/sheriff. Old and unwanted medications too often fall into the wrong hands and are abused and dumping them into the sink or toilet is harmful to our water supply. Please consider using a drug drop off box for your unused medications. No questions will be asked.
