Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a Springville resident for multiple charges after Deputies stopped him in a stolen vehicle on Wednesday night.

While on patrol in Springville, Deputies Ben Pisa, Jason Bouton, Don Hoelscher and Rich Retzlaff were called to investigate the report of a drunk male who had stolen the complainant’s neighbor’s van.  While responding to the call, Deputy Pisa spotted a van matching the description of the stolen vehicle turning onto West Main Street and stopped the van with assistance from the other Deputies.  The Deputies arrested the driver:  Randall G. Runyan (26) and charged him with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Felony Possession of Stolen Property, DWI, and Felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation (Suspended License for prior alcohol related arrest).  Runyan refused to submit to a breath test to determine his blood alcohol content.  He was processed at the Springville Station and transported to the Holding Center to await arraignment on his charges in Springville Court.  The van was returned to its owner by the Deputies.
