December 30, 2011- Town of Colden- Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of two subjects for multiple charges after Patrol Deputies discovered them in stolen cars with various items of stolen property early Saturday morning.
While on patrol in the Town of Colden, Deputy Mike Okal stopped and questioned two suspicious males that were moving items between vehicles on Darien Road at around 12:30 AM. After questioning the subjects, Deputy Okal, with assistance from Deputies Matt Fuqua and Jason Bouton determined that the two vehicles were stolen from driveways in South Buffalo and Aurora. One of the stolen vehicles also contained multiple items that were stolen from various vehicles around the Darien Road area earlier that night. These items included: wallets, cash, cell phones, stereos, and other personal items that were left in the victims’ cars.
The Deputies subsequently arrested Michael R. Newman (26) of Buffalo and Andre V. Mangham (29) and charged them both with two counts of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, two counts of Grand Larceny, Possession of Burglars Tools, multiple counts of Petit Larceny, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property. Newman was additionally charged with Driving While Intoxicated by Drugs, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (Narcotic Pills), Criminal Mischief, and Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd.
Both subjects were processed at the Elma Substation and transported to the Holding Center to await arraignment on their charges in Buffalo, Aurora, Colden and Elma.
