February 2, 2012- Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of three area men for felony Driving While Intoxicated.
Deputy Brandon Stott responded to a citizen complaint of a vehicle driving recklessly on Genesee St. in the Town of Alden. Deputy Stott was able to locate the vehicle and stop it. Further investigation revealed that the driver, 60 year old Fred J Skarupinski of Akron, was intoxicated. Skarupinski was arrested for DWI and taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment in the Town of Alden Court. The DWI charge was upgraded to a felony due to a previous DWI conviction. He was additionally charged with a felony count of aggravated unlicensed operation as his license was revoked. He refused to submit to a breath test.
On the Cattaraugus Indian reservation, Deputy Eric Szkatulski responded to a report of a white truck driving recklessly up and down Jimerson Lane and playing loud music. Deputy Szkatulski located the vehicle on Woodchuck Rd. Investigation showed that the driver, 45 year old Harland R. Jimerson, was intoxicated. He was arrested for DWI and taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment. The DWI charge was upgraded to a felony due to a previous DWI conviction. Jimerson refused to submit to a breath test.
On Whitehaven Rd.on Grand Island, Deputy Simon Biegasiewicz stopped 40 year old Michael S. Ochs of Grand Island for failing to keep right and following too closely. Further investigation revealed that Ochs was intoxicated. He was arrested for DWI and taken to the Sheriff’s substation where a breath test showed his blood alcohol content to be .17%. The DWI charge was upgraded to a felony due to a previous DWI conviction. He is scheduled to appear in Grand Island Court at a later date.
