TOWN OF ALDEN MAN IMPLICATED IN CHURCH/SCHOOL BURGLARIES

December 12, 2012- Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard is announcing the arrest of 23 year old David Popielinski of Schad Road, Town of Alden, for his role in stealing cash and church  envelopes ( petit larceny) from St. John’s Church on Sandridge Road, Alden. He is also connected to a burglary at Annunciation School on Clinton Street in Elma.  Both incidents occurred earlier last month.  

 In the theft from St. John’s Church Detectives David Brinkerhoff and Christian Parisi said that Popilinksi ingratiated himself with the staff at St. John’s church in Alden and stole cash and envelopes while inside the church from a metal box.    

 In the burglary committed at Annunciation school, Popielinski was charged with the following:  Burglary- 3rd degree- (Felony)  illegal entry with intent to commit a crime; petit larceny (Misdemeanor); criminal mischief with intent to damage property (Misdemeanor) and criminal mischief in the third degree- damaging  another ‘s property amount (Felony).

 The Detectives said that Popielinski gained entry to the school by forcing open the rear double doors; he knew the area as he attended school there previously.   He removed a metal box and safe.

 Popielinski was arrested for the listed offenses and arraigned; he was remanded to the Erie County Holding Center on $25,000.00 bail.
