Town of Chafee man arrested for DWI

Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a Town of Chaffee man for DWI and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st  degree following a traffic stop in the Town of Sardinia. Erie County Sheriff's Deputy Jon Hanna stopped a vehicle on Rt. 39 in the Town for a traffic violation around 10:45pm Sunday evening and after an interview and field sobriety tests, found the driver, 23 year old Dylan J. Draper of Chaffee to be intoxicated.

Draper was subsequently arrested and charged with DWI.  He submitted to a chemical breath test which revealed a .17% BAC, over twice the legal limit. In addition, his driver's license was currently suspended for pending alcohol related offenses, so he was also charged  Felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 1st degree. Draper's vehicle was towed from the scene and he was later released on appearance tickets for the Town of Sardinia Court at a later date.

This was the 76th DWI arrest by the Erie County Sheriff's Office Road Patrol this year.
