Town of Clarence Woman Arrested for Felony DWI

Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a Town of Clarence woman for Felony Driving While Intoxicated.

Deputy James Flowers received a complaint of a vehicle being operated recklessly on Harris Hill Rd. in the Town of Clarence.  The complainant reported that the vehicle was currently on Shimerville Rd. where it was stopped by Deputy Flowers.  The driver of the vehicle was identified as 51 year old Shelly Cooper who was determined to be intoxicated after she failed numerous standardized field sobriety tests. Ms. Cooper refused to submit to a chemical breath test.  After further investigation, it was discovered that she had a prior DWI conviction in October of 2008.  Ms. Cooper was arrested and charged with Felony DWI and Felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation.  She was transported to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $500 bail.

This is the 91st DWI arrest by Erie Co. Sheriff's Office in 2014.
