May 6, 2013- Sheriff Timothy B. Howard announces the arrest of two individuals for attempting to smuggle controlled substances and other contraband into the Erie County Correctional Facility in Alden.
On Saturday, May 4th, at about 8:45am, the Erie County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit arrested one Christine L. Baughman, age 34, of Lorrain Avenue, Buffalo, and one Steven J. Williams, age 31, an inmate at the Correctional Facility serving a sixty <60> day sentence from Buffalo City Court. Williams previously resided with Baughman on Lorraine Avenue, Buffalo.
Christine L. Baughman was conspiring with her boyfriend, Inmate Steven J. Williams to bring contraband into the Alden Correctional Facility. She showed up to visit him on Saturday/May4th during normal visitation hours and had a balloon with suspected prescription pills and tobacco on her person. Baughman was subsequently taken into custody as she entered the visitor’s area inside the Correctional Facility. The contraband was immediately secured and then taken to the Central Police Services Laboratory for testing.
Christine L. Baughman was charged with Criminal Possession of a controlled substance, Conspiracy 6th Degree, Promoting/Introducing prison contraband in the 2nd degree and Possession of a Controlled Substance outside original container.
Inmate Steven J. Williams was charged with Conspiracy 6th Degree and Attempted Introduction of prison contraband in the 2nd degree.
Inmate Williams and Christine L. Baughman are both scheduled to appear in Alden Town Court on Wednesday.
