Sheriff Timothy B Howard reports that two individuals were arrested on various charges Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 3:07 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a complaint of an individual who had exited a vehicle on Rt. 16 near Dutchtown Rd. in the Town of Sardinia, and was jumping on stopped vehicles. Deputy Joe Raczynski of the Erie County Sheriff's Traffic Bureau was first on the scene. The male subject was taken into custody after a brief struggle, and was placed under arrest. Charged was John W. Harris, age 26, of Royal Ave. in the City of Buffalo. He was charged with one count of Disorderly Conduct for obstructing traffic, and Resisting Arrest. He was then transported to E.C.M.C. for evaluation of his unusual behavior.
Also arrested was the driver of the vehicle from which Mr. Harris had exited. He was identified as Daniel J. Ellis, age 36, of Davis Rd. in the Town of Aurora. He was arrested by Deputy Jim Flowers after the deputy observed a plastic bag on the rear floor area of the vehicle, which contained suspected heroin, as well as a hypodermic needle, and several prescription pill bottles. Two additional plastic bags of suspected heroin were also found in the vehicle. Mr. Ellis was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, and was also issued a summons for driving an unregistered motor vehicle. He was released on an appearance ticket and a traffic summons. Both will be returnable on a future date in the Town of Sardinia Court. The vehicle was towed from the scene. The arresting deputies were assisted at the scene by Deputy David Barbaritz and Detective Sean Hediger, as well as units from the Village of Arcade Police Department.
