March 23, 2012 - Alden, NY - Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard reports a two car accident in the Town of Alden sent three adults and a child to area hospitals. An investigation by the ECSO-AIU reveals that at about 3:00 p.m., a van driven by James E. Bond, 59 of Youngstown, NY was traveling east on North Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Crittenden Road. Mr. Bonds vehicle struck a SUV that was south bound on Crittenden Road. The SUV was occupied by Gerald J. Schohn, age 68, his wife Carol Schohn, age 69 of Alden, NY. Also in the SUV was a six year old female relative of the Schohn's. The impact of the collision caused the Schohn vehicle to exit the roadway and overturn. The Schohns were taken by Mercy Flight to the ECMC where Mr. Schohn is listed in stable condition. Mrs. Schohn is listed in serious condition. The driver of the van, Mr. Bond was transported to the ECMC by Alden Volunteer Fire Company where he is listed in stable condition. The child was transported to Women and Children's Hospital where she is listed in stable condition. The Erie County Sheriff's Accident Investigation Unit continues the investigation and charges may be pending.
