June 29, 2013- Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of two area drivers for Driving While Intoxicated on Friday night in separate incidents by Sheriff’s Road Patrols. These two arrests bring this year’s total number of arrests for Driving While Intoxicated by deputies to 162.
Following a traffic stop on Transit Road, in Clarence, Deputy Lee Richard arrested Jeremiah L. Carr (33) of Medina for Driving While Intoxicated. After his vehicle was stopped he was administered Standard Field Sobriety Tests, which he failed, and was taken to the Sheriff’s substation on Goodrich Road in Clarence Center for processing. Breath test administered by Deputy Simon Biegasiewicz revealed is Blood Alcohol Content to be .12%. After arrest processing he was released on appearance tickets to a sober third party.
Later in the evening at approximately 4:30am Deputy Biegasiewicz responded to a report of a vehicle hung up on a parking median in the Eastern Hills Mall parking lot by the bank drive-through. When he arrived on scene the deputy found a car hung up on an embankment by the drive through with about a 2 foot drop and a vehicle stuck hanging over it. During the course of his investigation Deputy Biegasiewicz determined the driver Carlos R. Ayala of East Amherst to be drunk. He refused to submit to a chemical test to determine his Blood Alcohol Content. Due to this refusal the Department of Motor Vehicles will revoke his license. He was released on tickets to appear in Town of Clarence Justice Court at a later date.
