Sheriff Timothy B Howard reports that a Village of Springville resident was arrested early this morning. Deputy Tim Ulinger, of the Erie County Sheriff's Springville Sub-Station, responded to a call of a vehicle off the road at the corner of North and Sharp Streets. The vehicle had apparently attempted to make a left turn onto Sharp, when it went off the road due to excessive speed. The driver showed signs of intoxication and was taken back to the station for field sobriety tests, which he failed. Arrested was Kyle D. Wiedemann, age 23, of Sharp Street. Mr. Wiedemann voluntarily took a breath test and registered a .17 % Blood Alcohol Content (B.A.C), more than twice the legal limit. In addition to D.W.I., he was charged with an infraction of Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent. He was released to a third party on traffic summonses, and will answer the charges at a future date in the Village of Springville Court. Deputy Ulinger was assisted with the arrest by Deputy Doug Grube.
His vehicle was towed and a 12 hour hold was placed on it.
This is the 16th arrest for D.W.I. made by the Erie County Sheriff's Office in 2014.
