February 12, 2012- Town of Grand Island- Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a Grand Island couple for Obstructing Governmental Administration charges made by the Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol Saturday Night. Deputies Brad Girdler and Jason Clark, arrested Pascual Munoz-Ortiz, 30, of Grand Island on a warrant issued for his failure-to-appear for sentencing on a previous conviction. When Deputies arrived he jumped out of a second story window of the E Park Rd home and ran into the woods and through yards in an unsuccessful attempt to avoid capture. His girlfriend Christine L. Colucci, 32, was charged for her actions in trying to help him get away once he fled. Customs and Border Patrol, New York State Parks Police and New York State Police assisted in the search. The deputies quickly coordinated the search effort and formed an area perimeter with the other agencies leading to a Border Patrol Agent finding the subject hiding in a neighbor’s shed. Ms. Colucci was processed and released on appearance tickets for Town of Grand Island Justice Court. Mr. Munoz-Ortiz was taken to the Erie County Holding center where he is awaiting sentencing for the aforementioned conviction as well as another valid warrant he has for charges pending in Niagara County.
