How do I apply for Food Stamps?

To apply for Food Stamps, you must complete and submit an application. Application packets may be requested by phone by calling [716] 858-8000, by clicking on the link below, or requested in person at our office located at the:

  • You must provide your name, and address [if any], and you must sign the application before submitting it. Please include your telephone number and answer all questions as completely as possible.
  • You may submit your Food Stamp application online at myBenefits, by mail, fax or in person. Once it is received, you will be scheduled for an interview and an appointment notice will be sent to you by mail. Click here for myBenefits.
  • You must be interviewed for food stamps. You are not required to have a face to face interview. Eligibility interviews are now conducted by phone. If you qualify for expedited service you may be interviewed on the same day you submit your application. As part of the eligibility process, you will be asked to provide certain verification documents.
  • Once an eligibility decision is made, applicants are notified by mail regarding their Food Stamp eligibility and benefits.
