The Regular benefit component of the Erie County Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) will close for the season on Friday, March 17, 2017 at the close of business on that day. The Regular benefit component had opened for the season on November 14, 2016, with one Regular benefit available for a household's main source of heat.
In-person applications for Regular benefits will be accepted through the close of business on March 17, at 4 p.m. Mail-in applications postmarked or electronic applications received on or before March 17 will also be accepted and processed.
In addition, the Emergency benefit component of the HEAP season will close on Friday, March 31, 2017 at the close of business on that day. This Emergency benefit component had opened seasonally beginning on January 3, 2017. This component was available for the main source of heat and for heat-related electric (electric that is necessary to operate the furnace, thermostat, etc.).
In-person and phone applications for Emergency benefits will be accepted through the close of business on March 31 at 4 p.m.
