Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro is celebrating Greek Heritage Month and the achievements and contributions of Greek immigrants and their descendants living in the United States. Greek Heritage Month is celebrated throughout the United States with community events, festivals, dancing, live music, theatre, literature and cuisine.

Currently there are over 2.5 million Americans of Greek descent living in the United States. On March 25th 1987, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed Greek Independence Day as a national day of celebration of Greek and American Democracy.

Legislator Todaro presented a proclamation to Rev. Dr. Christos B. Christakis, Proistamenos, the presiding priest at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.

Legislator Todaro said, “The United States has welcomed generations of Greek immigrants and we are so grateful for their talents, wisdom and creativity and their spirit of values, family and faith is almost unmatched. May we all take the time to look around and see all that Greek culture has brought to our country.”
