Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro recently honored Officer James Robinson, Jr. for his selfless service and heroic actions. Robinson is a fourth generation firefighter at the Eagle Hose Company of the Lancaster Fire Department as well as a fourth generation police officer with the Lancaster Police Department. Mayor William Schroder described Robinson as someone who exemplifies the qualities of a true public servant.

While on duty on March 1st, 2021, Officer Robinson was on Broadway Street in Depew when he noticed possible smoke coming from the roof area at 4880 Broadway. After determining that the building was on fire, he called dispatch and immediately entered the building to alert tenants. Officer James Robinson, Jr’s courageous actions led to the safe evacuations of all individuals.

Legislator Todaro said, “Who knows what would have happened if Officer James Robinson, Jr. was not around to realize the building was on fire. He is a hero and his willingness to enter a building engulfed with flames and smoke speaks volumes to his character. Thank you, Officer Robinson for going above and beyond for those in need.”
