Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro recently joined Village of Depew Mayor Kevin Peterson who was awarded $164,980 in county funding.

The money will go toward transforming the West Dawson Park, turning it into a new, all-inclusive playground making it accessible to those with special needs and wheelchair assistance. Included will be an inclusive swing, a generation swing, inclusive glider, area for music-making play, wheelchair accessible picnic tables and much more. To help keep the children safe from harm’s way, the entire play area will be built on top of a Dura Turf surface. New fencing and guard rails will also be built around the park.

The project is expected to begin in early April.

Legislator Todaro said, “This is an amazing opportunity for the Village of Depew! So many children of all ages who maybe once had to miss out on playing at the playground will soon be able to swing, play and laugh together. Thank you to everyone involved who helped to make this dream a reality.”
