Bulk Trash Pickup

Large bulk items such as: appliances, mattress springs, furniture, etc. will be picked up twice per year; once in the spring in April,  and once in the fall in September. Each household unit is limited to 1,000 pounds of bulky waste per pickup. Any appliance containing CFC's/Freon (refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, humidifiers, etc.) must have them properly removed by an authorized technician prior to collection and a removal certification sticker stating such must be attached to the appliance or it will not be picked up. Please call your appliance dealer or service technician to have the Freon removed. Empty propane cylinders will be picked up, but should be placed on a separate pile from the rest of the trash.

The following will NOT be collected:

  • Tires, toxic waste, hazardous waste, yard wastes or construction debris
  • 1 gallon or 5 gallon cans or pails will not be taken unless the tops are removed and contents are in a non-liquid state
  • (These items can be disposed of at household hazardous waste (HHW) collection sites.
  • no electronics.  They must be dropped off at the DPW building on Railroad St.

Dates for collection will be published in the Alden Advertiser and on this website.
