Mayor Patterson has called a Special Meeting tonight at 5 pm to receive an update from Water Plant Operator John Asmus on the water issues recently occurring in the Village.
Due to the Coronavirus, the Akron Chamber has postponed Thursday Cruise nights but will be hosting a parade featuring a parade of Antique cars through the streets of Akron on August 20, 2020 starting at 7pm and beginning at St. Theresa's Church and ending at the Akron Fire Hall. The Chamber will limit the number of participates to 100 and will be distributing coupon sheets advertising the local businesses to the entrants to encourage them to visit the Village again.
Mayor Patterson has called a Special Meeting tonight at 5:15 pm to approve the purchase of a paving hot box for the Department of Public Works.
Recently the Village Office has received several complaints regarding the smell and taste of the water. Recent hot weather has prompted an unusual amount of organics and the Water Plant Operators have taken measures to correct the issue and stated that the residents should see a difference in the next several days. They did state that the water is safe to drink.

The parade will begin at noon starting from the Akron Central School and traveling through the Village on the following route; John St, Buffalo St, Buell St, Skyline Dr, Crittenden Rd, East Ave, Parkview Dr, Main St and finishing at the Akron Fire Hall. The Celebration Committee strongly urges all residents to stay in their yards as the parade goes by to help with the social distancing requirements. The Committee would also encourage residents to make signs to Thank First Responders, Front Line Workers and others who have helped to keep us safe during this pandemic.
The Akron Village Hall will be open to the Public beginning June 15, 2020 from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday - Friday. Masks will be required and all social distancing regulations will be followed. Mayor Patterson has extended the State of Emergency for the Village of Akron until 9:00 am on July 15, 2020.

2020 Senior parade will be held this Friday June 5th at 6:30 p.m. (assembly at 5:30 in the bus loop for those participating). It should last about 30-40 minutes to allow everyone to be home by curfew.
