In our effort to begin the process of re-opening the Erie County Auto Bureau to the public on June 17th,
ALL in-person transactions now require an appointment.
Effective Monday, July 6th you will be able to schedule the following transactions which will begin on Wednesday, July 8th:
- CDL permit testing, HAZMAT or Amendment testing- CALL 716-858-7450, option #2

In order for you to have the best experience at one of our Auto Bureaus, it is very important you are READY with all your documentation and forms before you come in. Please use the DMV Document guide to help you GET READY and to make a RESERVATION at one of our offices and to RENEW locally to keep your hard-working tax dollars in your WNY community.

Governor Cuomo issued Executive Order No. 202.8: Continuing Temporary Suspension and Modification of Laws Relating to the Disaster Emergency. In accordance with this Order, Erie County Auto Bureau and NYS DMV Offices, Road Test Sites, and Traffic Violations Bureaus are closed, and certain DMV services are temporarily unavailable. As a result, our ability to support customers at this time is limited. We apologize for the inconvenience, and appreciate your understanding.
ALERT: All Licenses, Non Driver ID's, and Registrations with an expiration date of March 1, 2020 or later are extended. Inspections due in March 2020 are extended until further notice.
ALERT: All Erie County Auto Bureau and NYS DMV Offices are CLOSED and road tests are suspended until further notice, and Traffic Violation Bureaus are adjourned through April 20th. All reservations have been cancelled.
ALERT: As the NYS DMV responds to the impact of COVID-19, the processing of some transactions and the provision of some services may be delayed. Thank you for your understanding.

When you mail your license or registration renewal directly to Albany or renew online on the State’s website not one penny of the renewal fee goes to Erie County? Keep your money in Erie County when you Renew Local! The Erie County Clerk's Office has made it easier and more convenient to do so by adding Self-Serve Kiosks, new locations, and implementing an online reservation system at the various Auto Bureaus.
