COMPTROLLER MYCHAJLIW REAFFIRMS HIS COMMITMENT TO THE ARTS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Erie County Comptroller Stefan I. Mychajliw welcomes students, their families, teachers, and dignitaries to showcase student artwork from the BPS Traveling Art Exhibition

(Buffalo, NY) – Erie County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw had the help of Buffalo Public School students to turn the Office of Erie County Comptroller on the 11th floor of the Rath Building into an art gallery once again. Students ranging from Kindergarten all the way through their senior years of high school contributed art to the Buffalo Public Schools Traveling Art Exhibition, which adorned the walls of the Comptroller’s Office to round out their tour across the city.

“My passion for supporting arts and cultural communities across Erie County is undying. Part of the economic engine of our region can be driven by smart investments in our arts and cultural institutions. It is important for me to lead by example by regularly showcasing original artwork in the Rath Building.

Students are proud to see their works on display.  It also improves the work environment for our employees. Everyone is so excited when student art goes on the walls,” said Comptroller Mychajliw.

Buffalo Public Schools Supervisor of Curriculum in Art Education Michele Agosto has proven to be an integral part of place art in the Comptroller’s Office. Through her hard work and dedication, the art programs in Buffalo Schools continue to thrive in and out of the classroom.

“Michele and her staff work tirelessly to promote students and the arts. I’m glad they allow me to be a partner in their efforts. Working together takes me back to my time at my alma mater, the Buffalo Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts,” said Mychajliw. “I look forward to getting the next batch of pieces and meeting their artists.”

The following students contributed to the exhibition:
