Instructor Development Course

The Erie County Law Enforcement Training Academy, under the auspices of the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, will be conducting the Instructor Development Course at the Training Academy located on the Erie Community College North Campus, 6205 Main Street, Williamsville, NY.  This course will give officers the ability to research, prepare and communicate knowledge in the field of law enforcement.  Lessons focus on setting instructional objectives, factors that influence adult learning, communication skills, the instructional process and methods of evaluating course effectiveness.  Successful students will receive certification for General Topics.  This important course is a prerequisite for other instructor courses since it covers the basic instructional techniques.

Target Audience: This course is recommended for all sworn officers. This course is indicated for police officers who will be conducting in-service departmental training programs or lecturing at the Police Academy.

• YOU MUST RECEIVE TELEPHONE OR EMAIL CONFIRMATION FOR ENROLLMENT IN THIS COURSE!  Notice will be made approximately 2 weeks prior to start of course, please do not call to inquire prior to 2 weeks before.
• Placement is NOT on a first-come-first-serve basis
• Course enrollment will be strictly limited to twenty five (25) students NO EXCEPTIONS
• Agencies may be limited in enrollment to allow equal opportunity to this course.
• There is no cost for Erie County Police Agencies.  Out of county agencies should call for exact cost and must provide a certificate of residency form.

Please Observe the Academy Dress Code:

Police Uniform or shirt and tie for men, proper business attire for women; blue jeans, t-shirts & sneakers are NOT acceptable! THIS IS NOT A CASUAL DRESS COURSE
