Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announced that 29 year old Carlton Smith of 23 Bennett Village Terrace, Buffalo, pleaded guilty, as charged, to two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree before Supreme Court Justice Christopher Burns.  These are the highest charges for which Smith could have been convicted had he gone to trial.

Smith admitted that on January 9, 2012, after Buffalo Police attempted to pull over a vehicle he was traveling in on Riley Street for an expired inspection, he jumped out of the passenger side of the vehicle with a loaded weapon in his hand and led Buffalo Police on a foot chase.  Smith was apprehended on the 33 expressway after he threw the weapons into oncoming traffic.

Smith faces a maximum prison sentence of 15 years when he is sentenced on November 7, 2012 before Justice Burns.
