Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announces that 59 year-old Sandra V. Gilliam of 366 Shirley Avenue, Buffalo, pleaded guilty to Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree before Erie County Court Judge Michael F. Pietruszka.

Gilliam admitted that between January 27, 2011 and April 30, 2014, she stole over $71,000 from her 84 year-old father who was living in an assisted living facility.  The funds intended for her father’s living expenses consisted of monthly annuity checks and long term care checks which she failed to divulge to his court appointed guardian.

Gilliam faces a maximum of four years in state prison on this felony for embezzling funds from her ailing and vulnerable father when she is sentenced on July 24, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. by Judge Pietruszka.

The case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Candace K. Vogel, who is assigned to DA Sedita’s Financial Crimes Bureau. DA Sedita also noted the efforts of the Legal Services for the Elderly, Disabled or Disadvantaged of W.N.Y. Inc.
