Inmate Charged with Murder While Awaiting Charges on Arson and Assault

Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announced that 19 year old Tyshawn Ball of 537 Adams, Buffalo, has been charged with several crimes under two indictments.

Under the first indictment, Ball is charged with Arson in the Fourth Degree and two counts of Assault in the Third Degree. It is alleged that on June 17, 2012, Ball started a fire in his family’s home and physically assaulted both his mother and sister. Ball was arraigned upon these charges on October 3, 2012 before Supreme Court Justice Deborah Haendiges. If convicted of these crimes, Ball faces a maximum prison sentence of 4 years.

Under the second indictment, Ball is charged with Murder in the Second Degree. It is alleged that while incarcerated in the Erie County Holding Center in connection with the Arson and Assault charges, Ball beat a fellow inmate to death. Ball is scheduled to be arraigned on October 9, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. before Justice Haendiges.  If convicted of this crime, Ball faces a maximum prison sentence of 25 years.
