Man who drove vehicle into Main Transit Fire Department charged with criminal mischief

Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita, III announced that 50 year old Mark Detlef of 2522 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo, was arraigned yesterday afternoon before Supreme Court Justice John L. Michalski to Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree.

It is alleged that on August 29, 2011 Detlef intentionally drove his motor vehicle into Station No. 1 of the Main Transit Fire Department, 6777 Main Street, Williamsville, causing extensive damage to support structures for the building, glass bay doors, heavy rescue trucks and a pumper truck.  The cost to repair the rescue trucks and pumper truck exceeded $20,000 and the estimated cost to repair the fire station is over $300,000.

 If convicted of this crime Detlef faces a maximum prison sentence of 2-1/3 to 7 years in prison.
